Meet the Shepherd team
We are small but mighty.

Ben
Ben is the founder of Shepherd and keeps the wheels on the bus going round-round-round.
Meet Ben
I love to read, travel, take long bike trips, eat delicious food, and use my imagination. I am an entrepreneur and love to take ideas and turn them into something people love. I am married to an amazing woman who makes my life more fun, and we have an 8-year-old who makes our lives infinitely more interesting.
Here is more about me and why I started Shepherd. My email is ben@shepherd.com if you ever want to chat.
What do I love to read?
I love historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, mystery & crime, history, biography, business, and economics. I am currently reading Titanium Noir, which is an excellent cyberpunk murder mystery.

Frances
Frances is our part-time editor and guides authors through the publishing process.
Meet Frances
I have spent nearly two decades with my wife and best friend. We have four awesome children, and five years ago, embarked on a life-changing move from the American hustle to Portugal's serene landscapes. My family and I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking and exploring, as well as visiting castles and old villages.
My wife, a Christian author and digital illustrator, and I co-founded Stewardship Press, a Christian-centered publishing venture. It can be complex balancing roles as an instructional and UX designer, editor, publisher, and ESL teacher, but it is also very rewarding.
What do I love to read?
Amidst the demands of work and parenting, I cherish rare moments delving into novels like Two Dollar Bill by Stuart Woods and timeless, thought-provoking classics such as 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Cathy
Cathy takes care of our authors and keeps everything running smoothly.
Meet Cathy
I'm a mom of 3 residing on a beautiful island south of Manila in the Philippines. Like our founder and my teammates here at Shepherd, I also love to read. I discovered my love for reading as a child when I started browsing my father's collection of novels. I instantly fell in love with how the stories transported me to another place and time.
Whenever I have spare time, I spend time with my family, communing with nature, and pouring out my thoughts and emotions onto paper.

Johanna
Johanna is our part-time data wrangler and creates book and author profiles.

Roman
Roman is our part-time designer and UX expert. He is why everything looks so good on the website.
Meet Roman
After graduating from high school, I worked in an office for only a year. That was enough for me, and from then on, I became a freelancer. I love the freedom of getting up late, working when I want, and going for a walk when I want. Besides reading, I like spending time with my daughter, watching musicals, playing Dota 2, and very slowly writing my book about the future of education. I hope I will finish it in 5 years. Or more.
What do I love to read?
Basically, 3 kinds of books. If it's science fiction - it should have a philosophical, psychological, or sociological accent. If it's a fantasy - the fictional world should be original and well-developed. If it's a philosophical or popular science book - it should be smart and eye-opening.

Attila
Attila is our part-time backend developer who builds all the new features at Shepherd.
Meet Attila
AI gained work experience by contributing to Hungary's first social network, where I met Márton. I worked for Prezi.com in its early stages, learning invaluable lessons during that time. Subsequently, I joined a small, early-stage startup.
I enjoy mountain biking and have twice competed in 24-hour solo races, having developed a passion for bike training. I am a father of three and now make a living from farming on the Hungarian Great Plain. I am now learning about regenerative agriculture and trying to put it into practice.
What do I love to read?
Nonfiction, science fiction, Russian literature, Hungarian literature, and lately, poetry.

Marcos
Marcos is our part-time frontend developer who builds all the new features at Shepherd.
Meet Marcos
I find freelance to be a great way to enjoy life and freedom. I’ve contributed to small and big projects and I love learning and enjoying building software.
I'm from Córdoba, Argentina. I'm married to a beautiful and amazing woman, and we have three kids who make our lives an amazing journey. We love to do a lot of activities together while we observe how they happily grow.
When I'm not doing code, I love to do any kind of sport. I used to play volleyball a lot for many years. In some cases, I used to mountain bike too. But now, I enjoy going to the gym and playing Padel with friends.
What do I love to read?
I love to read books from several genres. But I found books about science, history, personal growth, biography, and business more interesting for me. At this moment, I'm reading Zensorialmente by Estanislao Bachrach.

Márton
Márton is an amazing freelance developer who created everything at Shepherd from the start through the end of 2023. He now helps us as an advisor who spends a few hours each month helping us make good tech decisions.
Meet Márton
Whenever I am not building software, you will find me on my bike in the nearby forests or hiking in remote mountains. I'm also a passionate reader, have not stopped reading ever since I got hooked on Jules Verne's adventures and Robinson Crusoe as a child. I still remember reading through entire weekends, unable to stop.
What do I love to read?
I read in three languages nowadays, mostly science fiction, adventure, crime stories in fiction and psychology, business, and self-help books in nonfiction.
